Carol Ann Zinn’s appreciation of Chapel Hill’s special appeal as a place to call home, her trend-setting vision and her devotion to quality have left their mark on real estate development in the area for more than three decades. Her 1979 conversion of a milk-processing plant into The Courtyard, a mixed-use development of shops, restaurants and offices, paved the way for the re-development of Chapel Hill’s West Franklin Street. In 2002, she helped author ordinance text amendments that allowed the construction of detached single-family price-restricted affordable homes in Chapel Hill.
