Chapel Hill offers residents the best of both worlds. Home to the University of North Carolina, the town offers a collegiate retreat of stately oaks, impassioned sporting events, and the vibrant energy of its student population.
But those longing for more cosmopolitan amenities will not be disappointed. The UNC campus is home to Memorial Hall, attracting performing arts and concerts from around the world. The Ackland Museum of Art, the Morehead Planetarium, and the North Carolina Botanical Gardens are also on campus. Of course, a college town of Chapel Hill’s stature means award-winning restaurants, hot nightspots, galleries, and other after-dark diversions.
Chapel Hill is also in close proximity to Duke University in Durham (The Nasher Museum, Duke Gardens, and a pretty decent basketball team) and NC State University in Raleigh. The North Carolina Museum of Art, Exploris, and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences are all located in Raleigh.
The world-renown medical facilities of both UNC Hospitals and Duke University Hospitals are located within minutes of Aydan Court.
You also don’t have to go far to really get away. North Carolina is famous for golfing, but if you really want to do it right, head south. The towns of Pinehurst and Southern Pines offer world-class golfing in the plushest of resort surroundings.
Head west, and in a few hours you’ll be in the heart of the North Carolina mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Grandfather Mountain, the Biltmore Estate, and Nantahala National Forest provide opportunities for hiking, kayaking, sightseeing, skiing, wine-tasting and more (depending on the season, of course).
And life’s a beach if you head east. You can easily be in Wilmington and on Wrightsville Beach in a couple of hours. Once there, you can easily access the entire NC coast, including the Outer Banks. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Kitty Hawk, where the Wright Brothers took their historic first flight, and Ocracoke Lifeguard Beach (recently named the #1 beach in America) are all found at the Outer Banks.
